DESIGN APPROACH

This 2,500 sq.ft. apartment in Central Kochi’s National Apartments was designed for a family of AI developers returning from Canada, who wanted a home that was as technologically advanced as it was luxurious. The brief called for a space that blended modern automation with ethnic warmth, offering comfort, elegance, and a sense of belonging.

At the heart of the design is a complete home automation system. From lighting and electrical fittings to air conditioning and temperature control, everything is seamlessly managed from single-point switches in each area, offering both convenience and cutting-edge sophistication.

The home also reflects the lifestyle of its residents. A custom-designed standing desk with adjustable height was created to provide flexible work-from-home comfort — a thoughtful feature for a family deeply rooted in the world of technology.

Personal spaces were designed with intimacy and culture in mind. Two bedrooms embrace pastel shades and motif patterns, keeping an Indian ethnic touch to help the family stay connected to their roots. The kitchen features timeless off-white shaker-style cabinetry, with mirrors above the cabinets enhancing spaciousness and custom-made handles chosen exclusively for this project.

In the dining and common spaces, the highlight is a Nibasa dining table from Bombay, complemented by a sliding partition that conceals the dining area from the foyer — a unique blend of privacy and openness.

The outcome is a tech-enabled luxury home that merges global sophistication with cultural depth. Every detail — from automation to accents — was crafted to balance functionality with elegance, creating a space that feels both modern and rooted.
